Monitoring the SDGs
ASviS established an interactive online database (available in the page "The numbers of sustainability") that allows stakeholders, the media and the public to verify the progress of Italy with respect to the SDGs, using a wide range of statistical indicators. The platform contains the time series of all the indicators, among those selected by the UN for the 2030 Agenda, released by the Italian national institute for statistics (Istat), as well as the composite indicators relative to each SDG calculated by ASviS for Italy and the Italian regions.
At international level, ASviS monitors the European progress on the SDGs and has measured sustainable development in the G20 countries. The documents are available in English thanks to the support of Terna, electricity transmission system operator who operates in a sustainable, responsible way in order to create value for society:
At national level, ASviS monitors the Italian progress on the SDGs in its annual report. Furthermore, every year the Italian Budget Law is analyzed in light of the 2030 Agenda, dividing its articles according to the relevant SDG. The analysis is presented to the Italian institutions, and is meant as an annual supporting tool to plan sustainable policies.
At local level, in 2020 ASviS launched its first Territorial Report. It offers a detailed analysis of Italy’s Regions, provinces and metropolitan cities, contributing to the territorialisation of the 2030 Agenda in Italy. Furthermore, ASviS contributes to the Urban Agenda, to propose a programme for cities based on the SDGs. The document adopts the Eurostat indicators on the degree of urbanization and analyses the correlation between the 17 Goals and the 12 priority themes of the EU Urban Agenda.
